The Legend of Screamworld

With a mind twisted and perverse, he thinks only of death… and torture.  Nothing thrills him more than to see others suffer, and he and his gang enjoy plenty of thrills – all soaked dark with blood.  When death finally comes to his victims, it is a blessing – a final release from unbearable pain.  Many die with a final, fleeting smile frozen in place.

His name is Jake Slaughter, and in the deep dark of the Houston night, he lurks – hidden from all but those who know to look for him.  No one is certain why this has become his home.  We know he has traveled the world over, pursuing the father who abandoned him – all the while honing his skills as a butcher, torturing the innocent and sucking power from their ravaged souls.   And from all corners of the earth he has recruited a host of powerful creatures – all as deranged as himself, and all consumed by a dark lust for cruelty and revenge.

An old, dilapidated building on the northern outskirts of town became the scene of their final showdown.  Tobias Strange, the parent who gave the world this monster, was finally cornered.   Jake Slaughter and his followers circled the building and set siege, while Strange and his supporters prepared for the inevitable battle to begin.  When it finally came, it was violent and brutal.  The slaughter did not end until the walls were covered with blood.  To this day, locals call the place Screamworld, remembering the shrieks that filled the skies that night.

Legend has it that Tobias lives to this day, kept just this side of death so that his torture can continue – relentlessly.  Of his supporters, the few survivors were given a terrible choice.  Those who were unwilling to join the Slaughter gang were enslaved and tortured.  The rest were forced to take up residence in Screamworld forever, joining Slaughter’s ghoulish gang.

Even today they wander the halls and grounds in search of new victims to satisfy Jake’s unquenchable blood-lust.   And in the shadows, they hide… waiting for their next victim… waiting for you.

  2. avatar James says:

This place looks like it would be a good haunt and some of these haunted houses where the actors can touch you and you can’t touch back is total crap because in reality they shouldn’t touch you. You can get the drift by just startling someone. If I had it my way I would hide behind a corner and jump out or something in that manner.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Our actors are instructed not to touch you, which they will not do on purpose. Sometimes accidental collisions occur, but this is pretty rare.

  3. avatar Lyssa says:

I’m 12, and I’m going to Screamworld for my friend’s 13th birthday. I get scared from scary movies like The Strangers, Paranormal Activity, Nightmare on Elm Street (I also have a phobia of clowns which apparently won’t be a problem). This is my first scary attraction, like a haunted house or a maze. Any tips or pointers? Also, where is Sally’s room located?

  4. avatar hawaiiangirl says:

I heard that you split groups up. I really don’t want that with my group. We have 7 people.

  5. avatar hawaiiangirl says:

I heard that there are pigs over @ screamworld. Is that true and are they real. Will they be able to touch me?

  6. avatar Dakotah Cushway says:

I was wondering, are the auditions for jobs very thorough? Also, why do most actors keep doing this? Looks like fun, so I suggest that is why.

  7. avatar amanda says:

do you have to buy your tickets online or can u purchase them at the door?

  8. avatar Bloody Mary says:

You can die in there ?
why do you say most survive ?
im getting scared well that is the point but like i don’t wanna die !):

  9. avatar Brianna says:

So I’m pretty excited about going to Scream World. I went last year with my theatre club, but I had my eyes closed at the beginning. However towards the end of the attraction, I believe it was the Maze of Maniacs, I started hysterically laughing. No clue, why. This year I’m going again, I can’t wait. I’m bringing my little sister and I’m trying to get a group of friends to go as well. What would be an ideal number of people for one group? My little sister is 14 and this will be her first haunted house, I’m laughing under my breath because I’m pretty sure she won’t be able to handle it. I think I might regret this in the end, she will most likely have nightmares afterwards, but the experience is incredible. She wanted to go to Phobia, which I was pretty against because my experience last year was pretty awesome, plus the prices are a bit high. I’m hoping to get a great scare this year, with my eyes open. (:

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

I would encourage you to keep your eyes open for as long as you can stand it. Screamworld is actually a really good deal compared to other haunted attractions; others may seem cheaper, but you end up spending more than you are led to believe.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Oh, and a good group size is about 4. More than that and you may want to break up; it’s scarier in smaller groups, but more fun with larger groups – find your balance.

  10. avatar Kayla Smith says:

Hi its kayla me an my mom an dad want to get a job at a hunted house this fall an im only 14 would it be ok. I read all of the comments it sounds really cool.. please tell why i cant join if im not 16 whats the big deal i can handle it i did many hunted house before no joke its soo much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sooo telll me why!

  11. avatar johnai says:

Im 16 And Just Applied. What Are The Chances of Getting Called In For An Audition?

  12. avatar badisle says:

Ive been to scream world once and i kept my eyes close the whole time. Now i am feeling brave enough to go through without hiding behind my friends… do you think it will not be as scary as before because when i went the first time i was 13 and now im 16?

  13. avatar Brhie Vaughn says:

I went to scream world when I was in 3rd grade now im in 5th grade and I don’t remember a bloody butcher! Or any sandals! All I remember is a hobo running around yelling “Hey you want to hear a secret?” And a little green man who burps in your ear. And a guy with “HELP ME!!!” across his forehead.

  14. avatar tamia says:

how old you gotta be to work here

  15. avatar mary says:

    so i heard about screamworld i have a question…
ummmm is there a car that goes full-speed and stops in front of ur face not a real car but some effect my friends were telling me about it at school.
one of my guy friends told me that that one dude forgot his name hes the guy from halloween he gets a real knife switches the knife to a fake knife and throws it at u?
oh and i have another question are the chainsaws real do they have fake blades on them. or are they real blades that can acually hurt you?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Yes, we do have a car feature. I am not sure about the knife techniques; we do have several scenes that feature knives; it sounds like a technique they might try. The chainsaws are real; they do not have “fake blades”, but we do take precautions to prevent an excessive amount of harm.

  16. avatar Kelly says:

i went saturday bt we ddint see the doll house or the some other attractions yhu had listed

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Doll house? I said there was a doll house? There is a little girl’s room, and there are dolls about; but I don’t recall a doll house. What else do you think you missed? Did you close your eyes?

  17. avatar LINDSEY :D says:

Uhhhh yeaa im coming tonight with my best friend and sister(: I just have one question. Has Phobia been around longer than yu guys? or is it the other way around?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

The Screamworld organization has been in Houston in one form or another for over 20 years. We used to be located downtown, and moved to the present location about 10 years ago. I’m not sure how that compares with the Phobia group.

  18. avatar tyana says:

    do we stay together

  19. avatar tyana says:

    can u go in caves

  20. avatar Lindsy says:

I am sooo excited!! I am going to enjoy taking my nephew there for his birthday. What’s a good aunt for?? First time for me and him. I Love Scary movies and places. Nice cat corpse Blog Troll.

  21. avatar Layla says:

Hi, Well im finally trying screamworld tomorrow night.Haunted Woods,&Nightmare On The Bayou didn’t scare me if anything they made me feel depressed on the money i spent. Phobia was really amazing but, they are highly expensive so we only did 4 houses. But this whole week at school people have been getting sooo excited about coming but, there might be to many of us so how many seconds to you wait until you let the next group into the house after another group already went in.

  22. avatar Gissele Chavez says:

I was going to go to Phobia but, i was like wth!! these prices are hella expensive so we are going to to go to screamworld tomorrow night!!! Woot Woot!! Can’t Wait!!
By the way are the prices per person???

  23. avatar Kelly says:

IF WE PANICK AND WHAT TO GET OUT RITE AWAY WHAT WOULD YOU GUYS DO?
IS THERE SOMEONE THA WILL ESCORT YOU OUT?

    • avatar kayla says:

Well if you panic, I have heard that if you scream I want to get out of here,Normally the actor just points towards the exit.I might be wrong I might be right I have heard this from my mom and i’m only 11 so basically you don’t have to panic and just run out of there and get hurt.I know this sounds stupid but my mom got really scared and screamed towards an actor and he felt bad and pointed towards the exit. Really not like scream like (ahhhhh) scream like (I have to get out of here!) Or something like that it might work it might not.And again I only heard this from my mom so don’t get pissed at me if this doesn’t work.
      Have a nice day!

  24. avatar sam s says:

just wanted to applaud the blog toll on his entertaining yet in informative responces

  25. avatar Kelly says:

can you also give me a brief explanation about each of your attraction and which one is the best?

about how long is everything in total?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

See the about us section for a description of the features. I like the new Slaughterhouse the best. Everything takes about 40 mintues to get through – not including waiting in line.

  26. avatar Kelly says:

Hi well this is my first time going and i heard your Screamworld was the best. there some questions i wanna know cause i get scared really easily:

    1)do they touch you?
    2)will they chase after you?
3)what if we are in the middle of the place an we get really scared and we start to panick an have some problems what will happen?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

      1) no
      2) they will follow you, but not chase you; we have a rule against running
      3) depends on the problems; if you spontaneously combust we will extinguish you.

  27. avatar mya says:

    thx 4 the help

  28. avatar rosa!!!! says:

Ok hello i juzt wanet to ask are the sounds really loud and why cant the people go in sandals???????

  29. avatar lulu says:

hey i just wanet 2 azk if you could enter with water or food inside?

  30. avatar Maria says:

So me, my brother, and my cousin are going to the Haunted Trails and Scream World on Saturday, and I was wondering which one do you think we should go to first?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

I would come to Screamworld first and kind of early. Get here around 7:30 if you can and you’ll beat the crowd. That way you’ll have the energy to move on to Haunted Trails.

  31. avatar Vanya says:

Hey I was just wondering if you could give a short description of the Pyscho Path, and Sally’s Room. I’m 12 and not very squeamish, but I do like a good scare. (Well, if you don’t think watching SAW traps constantly on YouTube aren’t non-squeamish), and also, do you have any reccomendations for horror movies? Not like Friday the 13th, or Halloween, or the Blair Witch. :) I love this haunted house!

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Psycho Path is an outdoor attraction. It is a grown-over path that ambles through a haunted bog that includes a graveyard and residents that are… well, kind of psycho. Sally’s room is one feature in the “farmhouse” section of Screamworld featuring a scary little girl in her bedroom, along with some of her… friends, I guess.

Some of my favorite haunted movies are: The Others, The Village, Sixth Sense, The Shining, The Exorcist, Psycho, Ghost Story, and Poltergeist. I’ve never been a fan of the Jason movies. The Ring started off pretty well, but it kind of loses its way near the end.

  32. avatar mya says:

advice 4 me is needed cause i kno if its the scariest in houston then it has 2 be scary im goin wit dad and one or two friends

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Just have fun. It’s supposed to be scary. Try not to keep your eyes closed the whole time and don’t walk through too fast. Chances are you will survive.

  33. avatar mya says:

do one group go at a time or wat can u give me some advice im only 10

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Yes, we send one group in at a time. If your group is very big, they may want to break you up into smaller subgroups. It’s more fun if your group isn’t too big.

  34. avatar Kyle says:

If the website says you close at 10:30pm, do you kick everyone out then or just stop letting people start the attraction then?
And what if I am in line at 10:30pm?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

We will stop people from entering the grounds. We will keep the haunted house going until everyone that is already there gets through.

  35. avatar leo says:

how do i get to screamworld, i live in Alvin tx.? and how long does it take to go through each hunted house……. i want to this friday…..?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Screamworld is on the northern side of Houston. From Alvin, you would take 288N to I45N to the Beltway (8) going west. It’s on the south feeder road. Take the last free exit on 8 and take a U-turn at Veterans.

  36. avatar mya says:

so umm i am 10 but goin wit dad and maybe one or 2 friends i dont get scared very easily just as much as the next girl so can u give me advice

umm so one group of people go at a time or wat

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Yes, unless your group is very big, you will all go through together. Try not to close your eyes or go through too fast. It’s fun to be scared; that’s the whole point.

  37. avatar Megan says:

Ok I’m going to screamworld this Friday (29th)!! I’m so excited because I heard good things about this place. I went to phobia a few weeks ago and was very impressed; yet, I get scared very easily. Do you guys have like people with chainsaws that chase you or anything? And do they go for the kids mostly (I’m 13)? Do they go around the place like if you are in line and “torment” you? Can’t wait!! Hopefully it’s worth the money.. :)

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

You will like it here. Yes, we have chainsaws and people to torment you. They can smell fear; it doesn’t matter how old you are.

  38. avatar Alyssa says:

Hey, um even if I don’t have a card id and im 13 do I still have to have a parent supervision? I guess I don’t look 13 but I don’t wanna go up there and them not let me in.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

They don’t scrutinize that much. If you are with older kids and they vouch for you that would probably be good enough. Bring a school id if you have one.

  39. avatar luis says:

are the lines really that long?????

  40. avatar joshua says:

are there bathrooms along the way or like port a potties cuuz im bringing some of my “fragile” friends? thank you.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

We have port-o-pots available outside. Tell your fragile friends to unload BEFORE they go inside. It’s not a joke: if people are scared enough, they will wet themselves (or worse).

  41. avatar Adriane says:

Is there a maze at scream world cause somebody told me there is and if u get to the top u get your money back so is that true?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

There is a maze at Screamworld. There is a legend in Houston about a 13-floor haunted house where if you get to the top floor you get your money back. There is no such place. Screamworld only has one floor. We don’t give refunds for bravery, however impressed we might be.

  42. avatar nia says:

well i have a question for you do they touch you because at this one i dont no wat yall r doing this ive been going to scream world two yrz and think it is greatly terrifying so who eva created it propz to u

  43. avatar Daysha Smith says:

I’m Goin To Scream World Next Saturday , & I Was Wondering . . . Are Ya’ll Allowed To Touch Us . B/c I Heard That Haunted House People Can’t .& About How Long Does It Take To Make It To The End & Leave ? . . & Also . . . Do They Chase You ?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

No, we have a no-touch policy. It takes about 45 minutes to get through the haunted house itself – depending on how fast you go through. The time you will wait in line depends on when you come and whether you have a VIP pass. They will follow you, but not chase you.

  44. will you die in there for real

  45. avatar Bethany says:

Hi. Is screamworld better than phobia? Because i hear that phobia has 8 attractions. I think it is though. lol

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

It is. We believe you will receive a more intense and high-quality experience at our house. We receive national recognition every year and have been named best in Houston by the Houston Chronicle and Houston Press.

Phobia has just broken their experience into more pieces than we have; put them all together and they don’t stack up to the experience we give you here. Also, what you may not realize is that you will have to pay for each one of those eight attractions separately – costing more than 3X what it cost to go through all of Screamworld. You also have to stand in line eight times to see them all; here you stand in line once.

      In short, we’re better.

  46. avatar Bethany says:

Hi. Is screamworld better than phobia? Because i hear that phobia has 8 attractions. I think it is though.

  47. avatar micaela says:

so im goin to screamworld on the 30th and i get scared really easily and i was wondering if all the attractions were like connected to each other or if u get to lik relax a bit before each one ..thnxzz

  48. avatar Ashley says:

I’m going tomorrow night, and i’m SO excitedd.! I heard its amazing. (:

  49. avatar Ashley says:

    Am I Gonna Diee.? :D

  50. avatar Erica says:

Hello there . My husbend and i wood like to no how old do the kid’s need to be to get in? I have a 9 year old and a 5 year old can they come in with us or do they have to stay home. And is the cost for the tickets it is the same for a adult at it is for a child,? Thanks looking fowrd to seeing it we never have been there heard it fun.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

The price is the same for kids and adults; we do not recommend Screamworld for kids under 13. In fact, children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Nine years old is really pushing it; Screamworld is very intense and not designed for kids that age. The five-year-old will not be admitted; that is way too young for this. I would recommend you come without the kids.

      • avatar S says:

Uh…. I went to my first haunted house when I was 6. And it was at Fear Factory and Haunted Hotel downtown.

I definitely went multiple times with my family and we were never told that I could not enter. When did that change? It’s really up to the parent to decide whether their child can go or not.

  51. avatar MichaelRC says:

Is it possible to purchase the tickets online and pick them up at the door, or do you have to print them out?

  52. avatar Mikayla says:

Is there a special discount for a big group of people? We have around 20 or 25 people going with us, no special discounts?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

There are. Go to http://www.screamworld.com/tickets. This will take you to our ticketing system. Click continue and it will show you the different group rates that are available.

  53. avatar Marie says:

About how long is the wait in line on Sat night around 10? Is it worth getting the fastpass?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Saturday is our busiest night, and 10 is a popular time. As we approach Halloween, the lines get longer. Depends on how patient you are, but personally I would go for the VIP pass. It’s hard to stand in line when you are excited.

  54. avatar aal5392 says:

do you have to purchase tickets for the different attractions or do u just buy 1 ticket and u get into everything?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

You buy one ticket for everything, and there is just one line; after that, the attractions flow one to the next.

last weekend was my first time ever going to a haunted house and it was absolutely amazing!! my friend (who was telling me to stop being a wimp while we were waiting in line) was cowering behind me!! and also my mom (who was in front of us at first) got so scared that she pushed me in front of her!! it was hilarious! XD the one thing that really scared me was when a “ghoul” started crawling through the crowd. it was funny but it scared the crap out of me! lol i had a blast and im totally coming back :)

  58. avatar JMG :) says:

Ok well I get scared very easily.. and my friend bought me passes for my birthday.. Umm my main question for you is would it be a good idea to take the guy that i like if I will be very scared..?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Screamworld is a popular date venue. Fear brings people together. If you feel you might embarrass yourself by being so afraid, you might reconsider, but generally guys find that kind of thing cute.

    • avatar Buzz says:

It’s always funny to see girls hidin’ in their dates chest lol.
It’d be a great place for you and your date, and any friends that would like to go as well!

  59. avatar DeLeon'sBaby says:

Am I able to buy tickets there? Or is it that people can only buy tickets online?

  60. avatar NoOb. says:

I did’nt Care for Phobia..it wasnt scary. Nightmare on the Bayou Stunk! I really dont want to waste my Money on something not scary. Please Tell me if its going to be or not. Honestly Nothing Makes me Scared. Not even people following with you with Chainsaws. And how do you tell if people are 13? Im 14 but im 4’8 really short…

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Screamworld’s better – straight up. Very scary.

As you point out, it is difficult to card a 13 year old. If you have any form of school id, you should bring it, but they will likely take your word for it unless you look really young.

  61. avatar Amanda says:

I see on the site that SW is wheelchair accessbile. i’m not restricted to a wheelchair, but i can not climb any type of stairs/steps. should i have any problems?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

No. Everything is on the same floor. There is a short stair going down to the last feature (Psycho Path), but there is a ramp also available and people stationed there to help guide you if you need it.

  62. avatar Austyn says:

Every year I say i’m going to a haunted house but can never find a group to take me. I finally decided that for my 18th birthday I’m going, no if’s and’s or buts about it. (btw halloween is my borthday :D ) And my main question was can the actors touch you? And is there anything or anyone that will chase you?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

No touching, no chasing. The actors will follow you, but there’s no running. We would be delighted to help you celebrate your birthday! Must be cool to be born on Halloween; you already half way to being a member of the undead.

  63. avatar April says:

    Hi,
I’m turning 17 this December, and I would like to know what kind of process I need to go through to become an actor with ScreamWorld?
I didn’t realize that people over the age of 16 would be allowed to apply, so I didn’t bother this year.
But I would love to start working there next year.
By the way, me and a few of my good friends are planning to go this coming Saturday (23) I’m really looking forward to it. (:

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

We’ll br glad to see you this weekend. Things are really jumping now, and it’s been a lot of fun.

Most nights we still need actors to fill in. No guarantees, but if you come a couple of hours before we open, we might take you on. If you live nearby, you might want to consider it. Otherwise, check back on the website next August and you’ll see the info on how to apply.

  64. avatar Roy Huffstetter says:

Never been to Scream World. I just bought a couple VIP Fast Passes online. I think this is probably the best way to go. I’m hoping that will knock out most of the wait time. We’ll be going either Saturday the 23rd or Sunday the 24th, I know that will be a busy time to go.

Just a quick question, so is Scream World owned/operated by the owners of what used to be The Haunted Hotels’ and The Fear Factory that was located in down town Houston? I only ask because it was the best there was at the time, now google search re-directs to SW. If yes, that’s great.

I do miss the old HH because the buildings were so cool looking. The building that was the Fear Factory is still there and is all that remains of the original HH and FF. It’s for sale, still has the FF sign and if you look close when driving by, you can see blood here and there. It’s still a creepy looking building…

  65. avatar Savannah says:

Oops I didn’t mean to press enter!

Anyway I you say there are 3 different houses or something like that right? Well is there a way to only get to one? I just really don’t want to go to the slaughterhouse because I’m a HUGE animal lover (even a vegan) and I would rather not have to go there.

  66. avatar Hannah D. says:

Hi, as you can tell in my comments before I was planing on going to ScreamWorld, and I did. And let me just tell you that I have a wonderfull time( scary wonderfull). I am really glad that I went, I was really impressed on the haunted maze, i think that the strob lights made it all that more confuzing. I also loved how long it lasted. I think that the one that I was the least impressed with was the psyco path, i think maybe you could have done a little more with it. But alltogether it was worth the money and time and I would suggset this to anyone who loves a good scare. Thank you ScreamWorld for making my Halloween a one to remeber!

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Yes, the actors and many of the animatronic features target the middle of any group going through. There really isn’t a “safe” place in a group – as long as the group doesn’t get too big (which ruins all the fun; keep your group down to about a half dozen at a time).

My advice would be to avoid keeping your eyes closed or trying to get through too fast. Enjoy the fear!

  71. avatar Jennifer says:

hii i live in new jersey and i wanted to know how long it takes to goo there by car??! i really want to go it looks funn!!! :] would a 1 year old girl be able to go tooo??

  72. avatar Karina says:

Hello. I think I’m going tomorrow(Saturday) to Screamworld? & to be honest, I’m pretty scared. I don’t know what to expect. But I was wondering, do y’all have the chains on the saws? & are the pigs in the Slaughterhouse real, & the blood, is it real? (: Kay’ well thanks [:

  73. avatar floorjugger says:

I’m 16 and this is something I really would love to do. What exactly would I have to do to apply. When & where? Any and all information on working as an actor here would be helpful.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

We have already hired our main crew for the season, but it is common for us to need last-minute fill-in folks. The best way to get on is to show up an hour or two before we open and find one of the managers; tell them you are there to fill in if they need additional actors. There is no guarantee they will hire anybody any particular night, but if you are motivated and don’t live too far away, it’s something you might try. Failing that, we will start hiring for the 2011 season in August.

  74. avatar curious me says:

A friend of mine is wanting to take her 9 year old son, he has been begging her to go since last year. Would you recomend this? He knows its going to be scary and still wants to go. If Scream world is not appropriate for 8 & 9 yr old boys, can you suggest another haunted house? Thanks!

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Screamworld is pretty intense for a kid that young. Even if he watches scary movies without any problems, it’s different when it’s live. I wouldn’t recommend it. For a kid that age, I would start with a local haunted house through a community center or church somewhere. These tend to be a lot tamer than the commercial houses.

  75. avatar T-Mac says:

Uhhhh….. What are the attractions in order?? And me and a group of friends are thinking about going and wanted to know is it true that if you get through all the attractions, then you get yout money back?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

You get all the attractions for one price. You do not get your money back. That’s an urban myth about some place with 13 floors. We only have one floor; has nothing to do with us.

The attractions in order are: Maze of Maniacs, Haunted Hotel, Edge of Darkness, Jake’s Slaughterhouse, and the Psycho Path.

  76. avatar maria perez says:

can u give me any advice to making a haunted house because i wana mak 1 dis year n yals wer scary n r u lik d boss?????

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

They have several different types of fear. Do you want people to be startled and jump? Do you want people to get the crawling skin thing? On edge? Disbelief? The type of experience you are trying to give dictates how you design your house.

      • avatar maria perez says:

  77. avatar maria perez says:

whats better scream world or phobia because we might go there unless tis not that good???!!!

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Screamworld is the best haunted house in the city; it’s one of the best in the country. We have awards that show we’re not the only ones to think so.

  78. avatar maria perez says:

scream world is scary and to prove it ive been there. nothing scares my dad, but he was screaming and he scared a worker. i thought that was funny. i recommend screamworld, no the bayou of the haunts or wateva that’s called. screamworld shud b 1st place n haunts. im inlove with that place. i wish i could go again. how do u do a haunted house like that????

  79. avatar Key-Key Foster says:

    Hi there!
This is my very first haunted house and im scared as heck!
Is it true that if youre in the middle of the group, theyll torment you more than if you’re in the back or front??

  80. avatar Miime says:

    Do you have clowns?!?!?!?!

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

One or two actors outside have sort of an “evil clown” thing going. We don’t have any clown-based scenes inside.

  81. avatar confused person says:

overall they cant touch you or do anything to you correct?
can you describe the place to me my friends really want to go

  82. avatar Alisha M. says:

My sister and I want to go to sreamworld how much does it cost to get in?And are ages 11 and under aloud to get in with ages 12 and up?

  83. avatar {DTP} says:

when would be the best time and day to go?? i wanna go when there are alot of people and when theres a goodd vibe goin on..i dont mind the wait…..

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Good for you. I find there is a lot more excitement when there are a fair number of people. The busiest night is Saturday; Thursdays and Sundays are much lighter. The heaviest time of night is usually starts around 9:00. When it gets closer to Halloween, Sunday and Thursday is start filling up too.

  84. avatar AaronRAy says:

is scream similar to phobia…like different attractions, or is it one big house? also….is it all based on one big plot…or just different houses.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Five attraction, but only one price and one line. The attractions follow one after the other. All five are distinctly different in theme and… approach.

  85. avatar SexyBeast says:

hey i just went to phobia this past sunday, and already have got a group together to come to scream world next weekend. is it one big house, or is it similar to the style of phobia where theres different attractions.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

No, we have five attractions, but you only pay one price for all of them, and you only have to stand in line once. The attractions follow one after the other.

We look forward to seeing you.

  86. avatar CDOGG says:

Is Scream World more scary than Phobia?

  88. avatar Elsch222 says:

When during the year do you start hiring actors? I was way to busy this year to check into it but I really want to be apart of this for next year. Also do you guys supply the costumes and makeup?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

You still might be able to work this year if you want to try. Often we are short-handed, and most nights we hire at least a couple of actors on the spot. If you are interested, show up a couple of hours before we open. No guarantees, but particularly if you work close, it might be worth looking into.

We start hiring again for next season in August.

We supply costumes and makeup, but if you have some of your open, we will entertain your ideas.

  89. avatar M3G@N:) says:

My sister is Pregnant and we were wondering if you guys have a policy about it? She wants to go but doesn’t know if you guys would allow it? :) Thanks :)

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Sorry, we don’t allow pregnant women to enter – not a good idea. If a woman is visibly pregnant, she will not be allowed in.

  90. avatar camara says:

Hi I’ve never been to a haunted haus well i have its just that i havent been in a long time and i get scared very easily i dont even watch horror movies but my cousins want me to go with them and im scared that i might have some kind of attack so is it good if i go?????

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Attack? Are you generally subject to attacks because of some medical condition?

      We won’t attack you… much.

I think you and your cousins will have a great time.

  91. avatar Blake says:

How long does it take to go through all the haunted attractions?

  92. avatar Erika says:

Wow.! This Was My First Time Goinnq To Scream-World Nd I Really Got Scared But It Wasz Soo Awesomee.! Nd It Wasz Funny Because My Two Brothersz Will Scream Like Little Girls Nd They Will Put Me In front Of Them For Me To Go First Lol:)

  93. avatar cherypie123 says:

HI THIS IZ CHERYPIE123, AND I HAVE A SOMTHING TO SAY. IF ONE OF YOUR ACTORS TOUCH MEH, I SWARE IMA HIT THEM BACK, AND IF YOUR LIKE 12 OR Above and you get really scrared and freacked out, can u turn back and run the heck out?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

We have a no-touch policy. We don’t touch you, and you shouldn’t touch us.

Once you have gone through the first feature, you can bail out. You can also skip the last feature. There is no way to turn back once you are inside a feature, and once you have started feature 2 you have to go through feature 4.

You can’t really run in Screamworld. First, it is against the rules; second, it is laid out so that it is hard to get up any kind of speed – too many turns and dark passages.

  94. avatar galactica says:

This is the third year I’ve gone to Screamworld, and it hasn’t gotten old. It was thrilling as always. I liked the fog in the outdoor attraction. I was going to suggest that to you before I went.

  95. avatar doodoo123 says:

ok meh nd my cuzzins r sapposed to be goin to scream world but we wanna know if we can bring diapers in case if we doo doo on our selfs, and i heared that screamworld is terifying but i also wanna know if its like a maze?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

You are free to bring diapers; we do not supply them.
One of the features is indeed a maze; much of Screamworld is maze-like, giving you the feeling of being trapped.

  96. avatar Amber says:

I would just like to say to Blog Troll, you are so very professional and nice to answer everyones questions. I have never been to a haunted house but would like to. If I get the nerve Screamworld is where I would go, it seems legit and under good management.

  97. avatar Jacquee says:

are there chains on the chainsaws.?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

I am afraid that even haunted houses are subject to OSHA regulation, so we don’t always have the chains on the saws.

  98. avatar Taylor Mayfield(: says:

Okay, so i heard that ya’ll use REAL blood. I want a strait-up answer as to wether or not that is true. Could you tell me please?
And also im sooo pumped because next weekend i’m gonna be seein ya’ll(:
Can’t wait to get that adrenaline pumpin!!!

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

We found that real blood spoils, and in the quantities we need it we end up sucking the supply out of all the metro hospitals. We often have to improvise.

Look forward to seeing you next weekend. I am sure you will have a great time – particularly if you are into adrenaline.

  99. avatar halloween lover;) lol says:

im one of the types of girls that loves the haunted houses/places && all halloweens i’ve been to Phobia Haunted Houses to me is one of my favorites and most SCARIEST in the country!. But they also say that scream world is very scary too. My question is Wich One IS THE MOST SCARIEST?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

We are the scariest. That’s what we do. We’ve been voted best in Houston by Houston Chronicle and Houston Press, plus we always get ranked as one of the best in the country. If you are into Halloween and live in Houston, you NEED to do Screamworld.

  100. avatar Hrrrrrrr123 says:

I am SO freaked out I went to Phobia last night and the actors keept getting in my face. Plan to go to Screamworld tonight. IS it scarier than Phobia. Hope its Better!

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Screamworld is the best in Houston; one of the best in the country, and better than Phobia. We pride ourselves on being the scariest.

We do not resort to getting physical – as other haunts might. We have a “no touch” policy.

      • avatar Hrrrrrrr says:

You were so right! Screamworld is SOOOO much better than phobia or any other haunt ive been to in awhile! i plan to go back with my boyfriend. You guys should stay open past halloween though for all the people who didnt get to go in the house before halloween. my boyfriend had to go on some races so he might not be able to go.
Overall this Haunt was amazing, to say the least! I even saw a girl cry because a clown wouldnt leave her alone:) you guys are amazing keep it up!

  101. avatar Dezii! says:

Heyy..Umm I Have A Few Questions I want 2 Ask?!..If i am 12 turning 13 Nxt month will it be okay 2 go?!..I been invited 2 go wit my friends n 1 of my friend’s mom..So will i be able to go in?!?.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

If you are going with your friend’s mom, that’s adult supervision, no? Is she not going in? She should; terrified mom is hilarious.

Don’t sweat it unless you look really young; it is hard to card a 13 year old. Anything you can bring to prove your age might be a good idea. They won’t turn you away if you a there and only one month away. The 13-year-old age limit is our own rule; there’s no legal age limit or anything like for drinking.

      • avatar Dezzi! says:

Hahaha..Yea that would be funny..And Yes i believe she is going in..Maybe ill take my mom..Haha Itll be EVEN MORE FUNNIER!!:D …I do look older for my age..Alot of ppl say that i look older for my age and all that stuff..so yea..Any advice before i go?.

  102. avatar Karina says:

Hello! Well I Think I’ll Be Going To Screamworld With About 2 Or 3 Friends Next Friday Or Saturday. & I Wanted To Know, I’m 13 But I Look Pretty Young! Do You Think They’ll Still Let Me In Without Parent-Supervision? (: BTW, I Hope That I Will Have Fun! (: A Few More Questions, Do Y’all Have Like A VIP Ticket(Where You Don’t Have To Wait In Those Huge Lines?) & Are Y’all Scarier Than Phobia(Be Honest Please) Kay’ Well Thanks! :D

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

If you are 13, you are allowed to go in without supervision; if you look really young and you have some kind of ID, bring it. It’s hard to card a 13 year old.

You will have a blast; great fun in a group of friends.

We have a VIP pass; you can buy online here (you should: often cheaper and always faster).

Screamworld is the home of Houston’s most terrifying haunts. We pride ourselves on being the scariest. Of course, we are biased, but we have been voted best in Houston by Houston Chronicle and Houston Press; we are consistently ranked as one of the top haunted houses in the country. We are better than Phobia.

  103. avatar kim says:

i went to screamworld last year and it was great!!!! im not the type to get scared at all. unfortunately im 7 months pregnant. is it still possible to go? i understand if i was 9 months or sobut i really enjoy screaworld…..

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

We do not allow pregnant women to go into Screamworld. Just too risky. The doorman will turn you away if they realize you are expecting.

  104. avatar Paubrodan says:

    And where/who was Jake Slaughter????

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Jake is more of a behind-the-scenes guy. I will have to look into getting him to make some public appearances.

      • avatar Paubrodan says:

yes. u do. My friends and i were wondering if we were going to see him.. and we didnt so yea… but i have this
HUGE freakin bruise on my leg from ur skulls in the house

  110. avatar lufkyrsk says:

tht was mean to delete my comment!

  111. avatar paubrodan says:

Hello. I get scared VERY easily! I have spaz attacks. would the actors get mad if i accidently hit them?I have never been to Scream World. I am going tomorrow with my friends. Are they aloud to touch you if you touch them? And i will be expecting something to happen at all times! So HAHA!!

    • avatar danpaibri says:

I am just like you Paubrodan. Hey what kind of name is that?? FREAK. jkjkjk. soooo I’m also going to scream world tomorrow…HOW WEIRd! :) haha.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Our rule is “we don’t touch you; don’t touch us.” Violations happen, but they are almost always unintentional. If you hit anyone, I am afraid you will be asked to leave.

      • avatar paubrodan says:

Oh. Ok. Is it really scary? I saw some of the videos. What should I be expecting? My friend went last year and someone wouldnt stop screaming in her face and she hypervililated.. (spelling?)

        • avatar Buzz says:

The actors will get in your face and will do just about anything possible to scare you. Like BlogTroll said though, No Touchy!

  112. avatar bethany says:

can pregent woman go through the house ?

  113. avatar :D Screamworld! says:

How early would you recommend for customers to come so they wont have to wait in a long line?

  114. avatar UMPALOOMPA says:

    WAT IF I FAINT …LOL

  115. avatar Blog Troll says:

Actors are not allowed to touch anyone going through the haunted house; sometimes this happens by accident. Touching someone as you describe is a serious offense and is grounds for immediate termination. If anything like this happens again, please report it immediately to one of the managers on the site.

  120. avatar Lauren Clark says:

Ive sent you guys 2 emails and I’m another 11 year old that would LOVE to work with you! We could get the legal things worked out and my parents aprove PLEASE contact me about it. Could i please at least have an audition??? I love scarring People and i really want this. I’m a working actor that could pass for 13 or even 14 and i love scary things and scaring people and i know we could try to work something out! I also have experience a resume and head shots if needed :)

  121. avatar Amanda says:

Is this place recommended for pregnant women?

  122. avatar Kaylie says:

Do a lot of people actually go. I’m planning on going on the 23rd. Or maybe going to phobia. I don’t know. How is it?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

The 23rd is the Saturday before Halloween. It will be a busy night – which can be fun, but if you want to avoid the crowds you might want to come earlier or on an off-night (generally not a Friday or Saturday).

We’re biased, but we think we are the best – as does the Houston Chronicle and Houston Press. We’ve also won several national awards for being one of the best haunted houses in the country. If you are in to being scared for Halloween, this is the place.

  123. avatar Hannah D. says:

This will be my first time going to a haunted house and I have a friend who is kind of young and gets scared easily who is also going to with me, I was wondering what is the scariest stuff to expect in Sceamworld( Like people chasing you, throwing things, ect…)?

  124. avatar Jaclynn says:

How old do you have to be to work there?Because i am 11.

  125. avatar Marcus says:

My b-day is in October, so I’ve always been a fan of Halloween and horror and scaring people and all that stuff, i love it all lol I’ve been to Scream World for about 2 or 3 consecutive years, and its awesome, i really like it, so much that i volunteer to go in front of the line of my group, my friends liked it as well, and Scream World was the first haunted house i went to in my life, I’m waiting to go again this year, i really want to see the two new attractions: the slaughter house and the out door psycho path. Last year the outdoor path wasn’t all that great, and neither was the 3d part, so I’m pretty anxious to see how those two are this year!! :D

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Thanks for your kinds words. The Slaughterhouse replaced the 3D section this year, and the Psychopath is updated. We always try to improve the features from year to year.

By the way, our actors are smart enough to know that the bravest people in any group are the ones in the front. They target most of their torment at the people in the middle of the group. The same is true for many of the animatronic features – which designed so that the first person will trip them but they will delay a couple of seconds before firing so that they will target the middle of the group.

      • avatar hannah says:

if your chlostophobic is this a good place to go to for you??

        • avatar Blog Troll says:

You may be bothered if you go through with a large group. Groups tend to jam together when they get scared, and things can get really tight.

      • avatar Marcus says:

You’re welcome. Well me and some friends are going tonight, mainly because its my b-day in 2 days, I’ll be 17 , and because I’ve been wanting to go. And I’m putting in a lot of good words for y’all, so they’re all ready to have a good time and lots of fun tonight. Well I’ll be there later on tonight, and I’ll leave some comments about the attraction, I’m ready to have a good time… Happy Halloween! :)

  126. avatar Glen says:

Just went and visited your haunted house last night it was awsome. I was just wondering if you are still in need of actors.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Glad you liked it. Sorry, we are set for actors for this season, but we appreciate your interest. Try again next year; we get started in August!

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Latest Update: I checked in with the actor status. We are still in need of extra actors on some nights. If you are interested, come to Screamworld an hour or two before it opens. On many nights we are short because for some reason or another some of our regular crew cannot make it, and we need people to fill in. We are usually hiring at least a couple of extra actors every night.

Now we can’t promise we will have openings, but if you live close by and you have the time – check in and you can see what this experience is all about.

I will post this note on the main blog page.

  127. avatar Ashly says:

i cant wait to go i havent been since its been 3 houses…….

  128. avatar jeff says:

is the legend actually real and jake actually haunts houston “Tobias lives to this day, kept just this side of death so that his torture can continue – relentlessly. Of his supporters, the few survivors were given a terrible choice. Those who were unwilling to join the Slaughter gang were enslaved and tortured. The rest were forced to take up residence in Screamworld forever, joining Slaughter’s ghoulish gang.” is dat true?

  129. avatar Tania says:

I so want to go, but nobody wants to go with me :( …. I need to face my fears but not by myself, I need to make some else miscerable in this journey…..lol

  130. avatar Jaime says:

So if im minor do i need too take the school id?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Wouldn’t hurt, but they are unlikely to card you unless you look younger than 12. It’s hard to card a 12 year old.

  131. avatar Alanna says:

how long will it take to get in

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

This weekend is still early in the season, so the lines won’t be long at all. It really only the last two weekends in October that get so crowded that you will have a significant wait in line.

  132. avatar Jaime says:

Can a 13 year old enter screamworld without someone over 21?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Yes, 12 and up can go in without adult supervision. It’s a scary experience, though. You may want to go in with a friend.

  133. avatar chococatlight says:

so how many people are usually in one group?

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

People generally do come in groups; Screamworld is a great group activity. People typically come in groups of four or more, but you’ll see some couples and some very brave loners. We can accommodate bigger groups, although it’s scarier if you break up into smaller subgroups of six or less when you actually go in.

  134. avatar ADL says:

I went last year and as a strong critic i say the place is decorated amazingly, the actors are well dressed, but one thing that you need to improve that ruined my whole night there was the way yall let everybody in at one time, its a huge single file line thats going through the attractions at one time, so its impossible to get scarred when you can see everything that is going on to the people in front of you, i was never scarred just frustrated that yall did this, I hope yall handle it better this year or i will not go ever again and will keep my people away from there…. Besides that issue, it was very very good decorations.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

We appreciate the kind words and suggestions. I would suggest attending Screamworld earlier in the season or on one of the less popular nights (Thursdays, Sundays, and during the last week we are open Tuesday and Wednesday). At this time, the crowds are very manageable, and we hold people back so that you feel there is no one else around you when you go through. This makes for a much more terrifying experience since you feel you are all alone, and the actors can focus all of their attention on you. As the crowds heat up, we are not able to hold people back as long since we have to keep the line moving.

Handling crowds is a difficult challenge for haunted houses since everyone tends to go the last weekend of October – or even Halloween night. Obviously, this is tradition at work, and we do our best to handle the large crowds as best we can. It’s cool to be at a haunted house on Halloween night, but there is definitely a trade-off between the amount of time people are forced to wait and the level of fright we are able to achieve. We do our best to achieve a reasonable balance.

  135. avatar Sarah says:

wow i would love to go and enjoy getting scared. hope everyone has fun!!!! :)

  136. avatar dee says:

Do they chase you in scream world

They might follow you, but not chase. Running is against the rules.

I never been 2 ScremWorld but im guessing its scary
I do get scared a lot so if yall made my day that would b awesome
also i would love to see the actors chasing random people that would be so much funnnier hehe :p

Hope I get to go this year because i never been there and i really want to go .

Well, we would love to have you, princess 100930. Screamworld is very scary, and you are right: it is as much fun watching other people being frightened as it is being scared yourself. Actors patrol the grounds scaring the unsuspecting as they wait in line or mill about. Very funny.

how long does it take to go though everything

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

It depends on the crowd. Obviously, there is the wait in line; early in the season this should be no more than about 10 minutes – probably less, particularly on Thursdays and Sundays. Later in the season, the lines get longer. Less obvious is that people tend to go through the attractions quicker when the crowd is lighter. If there is a group ahead of you, they slow you down. If not, then you can go as fast as you want, and when people get scared, they can move FAST. Really fast would be about 30 minutes. Usually, it is closer to 45 I would say. But when you get out, you are so hyped on adrenaline it feels like it took HOURS.

At this time, from the time you get there until the time you leave would be about an hour. There are other things going on on the grounds, though. People tend to stay a bit longer than that, but some like to do a quick in and out and get on to other things.

You herd wrong. Screamworld has been voted the #1 haunted house by Houston Chronicle and #1 in Houston by Houston Press. It has consistently been rated (as in the last three years in a row) as one of the best haunted attractions in the country by America’s Best Haunts. We were also chosen as one of the best haunted houses in the country by MSNBC.

All modesty aside, the simple truth is: Screamworld rocks.

ii am just 12 years old and i get scared easy…will this be recommended for me or what?? because i want to go to a hauntedd housee but iidnt know if i will start cryiing or piss in my pants lol..

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

Being 12, you are allowed – whether it is a good idea is up to you. Screamworld is very intense, and you will be scared. I recommend if you try it, do so as part of a group. Being scared is what makes it fun. Chances are that you will survive to tell the tale.

    • avatar Blog Troll says:

The “Preview Showing” is Screamworld’s dress rehearsal. It is a very small affair and open only to friends and family of the actors. It’s our way of making sure all our spooks are up to speed – to get all the kinks out before our Grand Opening to the public.
